Safeguarding Statement
Orchard Training & Education Ltd (trading as OTE Construction Training) take our responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of our learners, to minimise risk and to work together with other agencies to ensure rigorous arrangements are in place within our centres to identify, assess, and support those young people who are suffering harm or at risk of, and to keep them safe whilst in our care.
This Policy aims to ensure the identification and protection of all learners, especially those who are in particular need of support and/or at risk of harm, throughout all stages of the learner journey, from initial recruitment through induction, participation in learning and support programmes, and progression to subsequent learning and employment, and that we develop our team members awareness, enabling them to identify concerns and confidently raise informed concerns and issues about the health, safety and wellbeing of learners.
Our response to the Prevent Duty is embedded within this Safeguarding Policy, outlining our arrangements for preventing people from being drawn into or supporting terrorism, implementing our arrangements for complying with the Prevent Duty, responding to the challenge of terrorism and aspects of extremism, and the threat we face from those who promote these views. As Prevent firmly sits within safeguarding for this organisation, all Prevent related actions will be led by the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), who will liaise with the local (Humber) and regional co-ordinators, ensuring any updates are implemented into our arrangements and subsequent team member training. Wherever Safeguarding is referred to in this policy, it incorporates Prevent.
Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people is everyone’s responsibility. Everyone who meets young people, and their families and carers have a role to play in safeguarding young people. In order to fulfil this responsibility effectively, all professionals should make sure their approach is child centred. This means that they should consider, at all times, what is in the best interests of the child.”
